Here at Ms Shum's workshop, we believe that while
building a solid foundation is key to learning everything, the most effective
(and fun) way to learn a new language is to use it in real life - and better
still, to make new friends along the way, to increase your marketability,
or to expand your business' target audience someday!
Therefore, we think that the person who can best
design the curriculum is none other than you! So, please tell us:
- What is your objective for learning Mandarin
(e.g. To conduct client meetings in Mandarin, to order food, to take care of
everyday errands, or to simply learn a new language)
- If there is a specific subject that you would like to focus on
(a lot of our students are professionals in the banking, legal, business, architecture...etc.
industries and we could help you go through work materials in Mandarin, or to
simply discuss current affairs or social issues in Mandarin)
- What kind of schedule you are looking at
(We understand that most students have a rather hectic, sometime unpredictable,
schedule and it is perfectly acceptable to modify class schedule if you have an
upcoming travel plan. A notice in advance is a common courtesy; it also allows
us to open the slot to someone else who might need it.)
Last but not certainly not the least, do not feel
intimidated about learning a new language. While you may not always have the
opportunity to practice, there are plenty of other avenues such as Chinese
movies, music, bilingual articles that you could utilize at your spare time.
Thanks for dropping by, and have fun learning Mandarin!
